At a young age everybody can agree that we all were creative. We talked to ourselves, we have a crazy sense of imagination, and we even ran around like idiots thinking we could fly just like they do in peter pan. It’s funny that I can remember a lot of things I did as a child that were so fun and so out there but now it’s not really fun its more serious more adult like. We have jobs and school and we don’t really have time to be ourselves. I think life at a young age was much more creative and interesting then it is today.
In the article it says “Real improvement doesn’t happen in a weekend workshop. But when applied to the everyday process of work or school, brain function improves”. What I don’t understand that in today’s society not many people can be creative. If brain functions can improve then why aren’t we making the effort to make that happen? I know this year are school provided a project base learning class to freshman but why couldn’t that be offered earlier like middle school or elementary school. I wish there were more opportunities to be more creative. I didn’t lose all my sense to be creative I still draw and come up with things that no one else does. I still tell bed time stories to my younger siblings that are out of this world and don’t really even make sense but it makes them so happy.
It was true about what they said about preschoolers they ask 100 questions a day usually starting with WHY. It can get pretty annoy but can be super funny at the same time. This morning for example my 4 year old sister Jeleena said “why did God put me in this family?” it was so out there and unexpected that all my mom could say was “well God wanted to put a Jeleena in our lives” well it worked because she just laughed and walked away. I love that I get to be around to see my younger siblings sense of imagination be beyond anything I’m use to. I get to play along and be a little kid along with them. Creativity can last forever if we choose to take it seriously.
I still make an effort to bring some creativity in my life but like the article said it can be hard when there are thing like computers and TVs and video games to entertain us. I don’t think I could blame my parents for lack of creativity over the years I think as you get older you get more serious about your life and what way you want to go. I hope that the younger generation will grow up know how to be creative and how it can really help the way you think and succeed later on in life. I truly believe it can affect they way we think and react in certain situations. Creativity is what we make it out to be.
